A hierophant is one who interprets, reveals, or shows esoteric knowledge and sacred mysteries. At Hierophant Labs, we are attempting to reveal how life changes.
In Darwin’s estimation, the “gravest objection” to the theory of evolution by means of natural selection, owed primarily to the innately incomplete nature of the fossil record. Indeed, our understanding of life in the past is wholly dependent on jumbled and disparately distributed scraps of rock, biominerals and trace (fossils). Yet using modern proxies, chemistry, computer science and physical laws, we’ve made solid strides in reproducing probable ancient environments. We’ve even been able to make suppositions about how animals, which no modern human has ever seen, may have looked, behaved and moved.
The task of reconstructing taxa however is often an isolated endeavor. Relying primarily on interpretation of the fossil remains, comparison with modern taxa and general physiological understanding.
We propose here a more holistic approach to reconstructing taxa and even ecosystems, relying on the evolutionary mechanism and abundance of ecological, physiological, and environmental data available.
